問題詳情

2.   What did you eat for breakfast today? It probably wasn’t any insect like ants, bees, or beetles. However, around 30 percent of people around the world eat insects in their daily diet. Take Australian aborigines (原住民) for example. Soft, white worms called grubs are a common food for the people. In Bali, dragonflies are eaten as a favorite dish. In Mexico, the worm in a drink called Mezcal is very popular. And believe it or not, you may also be eating insects without knowing! Some natural food colorings used in common food are actually made from bugs.    Those examples may sound scary, but a study has shown that insects are rich in protein and are actually good for human health. So, why do so many people still refuse to eat insects? Perhaps it is because of personal opinions. Insects have often done harm to crops (農作物) and houses. This has made people dislike insects rather than want to eat them. In addition, some studies have also shown that the dislike of insects results from different eating habits. That is to say, it is only because we are not used to eating them. Some people also point out that insects don’t taste so different from shrimps (蝦).    In fact, eating insects isn’t scary. Our fear of it perhaps all has its roots in where and how we grew up. If we can change our personal opinions on insects, they may be a good choice on our dinner table.
