With efforts and conviction, MargaretThatcher left an indelible mark on Britain    As Prime Minister, Thatcher represented the right wing of the Conservative Party, advocating theeconomic independence of individual and leading Britain a clearer role in foreign affairs. Thatchersqueezed inflation, boosted deregulations and flexible labor markets, urged the privatization ofnationalized industries and restricted the power of trade unions. The term Thatcherism then came out todescribe not only the policies but also her belief, including fierce nationalism and a zealous regard forindividual’s interest. Other than economic impact, Thatcher led Britain a clearer position in foreignaffairs. Winning the Falklands War illuminated her international relationship, showing her stronganticommunism. A speech condemning the communism even won Thatcher the name “The Iron Lady.”During her tenure, she adopted a hostile attitude toward Europe Community by reducing Britain’scontribution to its budget.     Her uncompromising manner was considered one of the significant features that helped her toachieve goals. Sometimes she was criticized for her obdurate attitude when she faced opponents. RonaldReagan even described Margaret Thatcher as his “ideological soul mate” since they togetherreinvigorated political conservatism. However, though she created a template as the first female primeminister of Britain, she was decried by most brands of feminism for her least empathy for the underdog.Margaret Thatcher, the most polarizing politician of Britain, not only defeated opponents but alsoattracted criticism by accelerating economic and diplomatic revolution for Britain.
