五、 閱讀測驗:                                                              A Bunch of Flowers       There was once a lazy man who never cleaned his house or did the housework. Lots of things were in hisliving room and his bedroom. What’s worse, he never brushed his teeth, and always wore dirty clothes. Many of hisfriends either laughed at him or tried to help him make a change, but he didn’t care about what they said.       One day, a friend of his gave him a bunch of flowers. He held the white flowers in his hands and carefullylooked at them. These fresh white flowers were so pretty that he decided to put them in a perfect place. “But whereshould I put the flowers?” he thought. As he tried to find the right place, he saw a vase on the shelf. The vase hadbeen there too long, so it was very dirty. The man felt that the nice flowers didn’t go well with the dirty vase, so hewashed it carefully, added some water, and put the flowers in. But when he wanted to look for a good place to puthis vase, he couldn’t find somewhere clean. He looked at his messy table and decided that it was time for him toclean it up. After he put the flowers on the clean table, he looked at them happily. But when he looked around, hefound that the table was the only clean place in his house. The dirty house became a sharp contrast against the cleantable and the flowers. He then mopped the floor, threw away the trash and put everything in order.       After finishing all the cleaning, he was happy. He walked around the living room and felt proud of himself.But when he saw a man with dirty face in dirty clothes standing in front of the mirror, he was shocked. Heunderstood that he himself became the only dirty thing in this house, so he quickly went for a shower and put on aclean shirt.       When the friend who gave him the flowers came to visit him the next day, he couldn’t believe his eyes. Theman looked at the friend with a big smile and said, “ You’ve given me the best gift ever in my life. ”
