問題詳情

五、閱讀測驗      Nathaniel Hawthorne, a famous American novelist and short story writer, once said, “Happiness is a butterfly which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.” There is a lot of truth in his words. According to Franklin Roosevelt, “Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement and in the thrill of creative effort.” More and more people believe that happiness cannot be bought, and instead of finding happiness, they make happiness. The definition of happiness may vary from person to person. Yet, it is so true when Abraham Lincoln said that most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. In other words, the best way for a person to stay happy is to count his blessings, not his cash.      Every now and then, we hear people who have more money than they can ever spend complain that something is missing in their lives. They pursue happiness but can never find it. It is proper to say happy and blessed are those who have low expectations and feel satisfied with what they already have, however little it may be. Leo Tolstoy, the great Russian writer, said, “If you want to be happy, be.” Clearly, the secret of happiness is to listen to our heart and meanwhile always remember what we already have.
