Adam was a thirty-year-old engineer and worked busily in Hsinchu every day. His parents were
retired and lived in Kaohsiung. Adam’s mom had always wanted to learn to play the piano because she
didn’t have the chance during her childhood. So, Adam bought a piano for her. He also hired a piano
teacher to give her lessons.
Several weeks later, Adam called his parents. His dad answered. “How is Mom’s piano playing?”
Adam asked. “In fact, we returned the piano. I talked her into learning the trumpet instead,” said his dad.
“Why?” asked Adam. Adam’s dad started to whisper . “Between you and me, son. Your mom is
bad at both the trumpet and the piano,” he said. “At least with the trumpet, she can’t sing along.”
