Coronavirus spreads when an infected person coughs smalldroplets - packed with the virus - into the air. These can bebreathed in, or cause an infection if you touch a surfacethey have landed on, then your eyes, nose or mouth. So,coughing and sneezing into tissues, not touching your facewith unwashed hands, and avoiding close contact withinfected people are important for limiting the spread.
Coronavirus infects the lungs. The symptoms start with afever followed by a dry cough, which can lead to breathingproblems. This is a new, continuous cough and meanscoughing a lot for more than an hour, or having three ormore coughing episodes in 24 hours. It takes five days onaverage to start showing the symptoms, scientists havesaid, but some people will get symptoms much later thanthis. In fact the World Health Organization (WHO) saysthe incubation period lasts up to 14 days, and increasingnumbers of people on social media have been reporting alost sense of smell and taste.
