五、閱讀測驗 (一) Quill, released in 2004, is a touching movie about a guidedog. In the movie, Quill, a Labrador puppy, first lives witha married couple who are “puppy walkers,” the people whoraise guide dogs for a year. The couple named him “Quill.”A year later, Quill is taken to a guide school, where he getsmore training on how to help blind people. At first, Quillhas difficulty learning the basic skills. One day, while histrainer is looking after another dog, he notices that Quill isexcellent at waiting, which is an important trait for a guidedog. Later, Quill moves in to live with Mitsuru Watanabe’sfamily and works with Watanabe for two years. WithQuill’s help, Mitsuru Watanabe is able to go to placesfaster and more safely. Then one day, Watanabe has to stayin hospital because of his poor health. Quill goes back tothe training center. Years later, Quill is reunited with thecouple who work as “puppy walkers.” Quill lives a happyand peaceful life for a year with them . But one day,while playing at the backyard, he falls off a step and breaksseveral bones. Looking over a dying Quill during thenight, the couple thanks him. Quill passes away at theage of 12 years, 25 days.
