II.  Chi Po-lin, the famous director, once worked for the government,taking tens of thousands of images of the island during helicopter tripsover the past twenty years. It was said that his Taipei office was filledwith books on Taiwan’s landscape. He said he had dreamed about makinga movie based on his photos for a long time. In 2009, it was a turningpoint for him because he made his dream come true. The film “BeyondBeauty: Taiwan from Above” was born, and made its debut on November1st, 2013 at 44 theaters in Taiwan. The film was also known because itwon the Best Documentary award at the 2013 Taipei Golden HorseAwards.    In the 93-minute film, audience are taken on a bird’s-eye trip byhelicopter across Taiwan. While the movie was recording the beauty ofTaiwan, a lot of sights showing how people hurt island came out.    Mr. Chi said his idea for making “Beyond Beauty: Taiwan fromAbove” was not to blame some factories, but to manifest a true story ofwhat happened in real life.
