         The story about Oedipus is a very miserable one.When Oedipus was born, someone told his father, “Yourson will kill you one day.” Terrified by what Oedipus’father heard, he had the baby Oedipus taken to a mountaintop. The baby Oedipus was left there to die. However, ashepherd passed by and found him. Baby Oedipus wassaved.
         When Oedipus got older, a fortuneteller told Oedipusthat he would kill his father and marry his mother. So, hequickly left home. On the road, he met his father.Unfortunately the two started to quarrel. At the end,Oedipus killed his father.
          A few days later, Oedipus arrived in a city calledThebes. There was a dangerous monster, Sphinx, in thecity. Sphinx asked people he met questions. If the persongot the wrong answer, Sphinx ate him or her. Oedipusoutsmarted Sphinx, and saved the city.
