     When Mandy Moore woke up at seven in the morning, she found Ginger wasn’t in the fishbowl. She looked everywhere, but there was no sign of her pet goldfish. Then it was time to go to school, so she left the house and felt worried. When Mandy went home from school around four, she looked for Ginger again and found her on the floor behind the cupboard on which the fishbowl was standing. To her great surprise, Ginger was alive and well after 9 hours out of water.
     Ginger was Mandy’s birthday gift and has been jumping up out of water a lot recently. A goldfish expert said, “Fish can survive quite a while out of water, as long as their gills stay wet. But this is the longest I’ve ever heard of a goldfish staying alive. It’s very amazing.”
