(II)         As you grew up, your mother may have served you vegetables for dinner. “They’re good for you,” she might have said. But how does ice cream filled with potatoes sound? Or how about a pickle dipped in juice. They sound strange. But these are real foods. People all over the world eat them.
         Many people are scared of bugs and insects. However, in some places bugs are loved by people. In Italy, “Casu marzu” is a cheese made with fly larvae. Some people in Vietnam like to eat snakes. Ants are delicious to some people in Australia and Colombia. Caterpillars are a favorite in some of the countries of Africa. Of course, it helps that many of these foods are covered in chocolate.
         Pizza is many people’s favorite food. In the United States, a pizza often comes covered with cheese, ham, or mushrooms. But some people like to put different kinds of toppings on their pizzas. In England, some pizzas have been topped with frog legs. In Japan, some pizzas come with fish, or sugar. In New Zealand, pizzas are known to be served with pickles and grapes. In Brazil, hard-boiled eggs and beans are sometimes used.
         There is an old saying, ”One man’s meat may be another man’s poison”. Next time, when you’re tired of eating the same food every day, try some of the foreign food to experience different eating culture.
