        Charles Dickens was born in the UK in 1812, and hedied in 1870. He began to write in the 1830s. In fact, heonly went to school for a few years. He started to work atthe age of 12 after his father was out of job. Dickensworked ten hours a day in a factory then. Later, he wrotedown this experience in David Copperfield. It wasDickens’s eighth novel. Tolstoy, a great writer, said,“David Copperfield was Dickens’s best novel. He put somuch of his own early life in it.”
        Because Dickens experienced the hard times in theUK in the 1800s, he wrote a lot of stories about theworking-class people at that time. He had a lot of greatworks such as A Christmas Carol and A Tale of Two Cities.Some of them were adapted for movies and TV programs.Now many people around the world still read and love hisbooks.
