問題詳情
(3)A massive fire destroyed Brazil’s famous National Museum in Rio de Janeiro in September of last year. The whole country was shaken by the fire. Nearly 20 million historical items were burned in the flames. They included historic artwork, ancient masks, and the oldest human remains ever found in the Americas. Investigators have so far failed to discover the cause of the fire. No serious injuries were reported, but some 200 years of work, research, and knowledge were lost forever. The building, once home to the Portuguese royal family, was damaged beyond repair. However, moves were quickly made to keep the memory of the lost artifacts alive. Museum studies students in Rio de Janeiro started collecting pictures and video, even including selfies taken by visitors to the museum. Within a few days, they received more than 14,000 replies. Wikipedia also began an online museum of sorts and asked the public for photos. It received thousands of images.
