隊列研究(cohort study) 是一種縱向研究(longitudinal study)，可以是前瞻性研究(prospective study)或回溯性研究(retrospective study)。所謂隊列(cohort)是指具有共同經歷、共同曝露在於某因素(如一種藥物、疫苗、污染物或經歷特定的醫療過程等)的兩種人群，或是共同具有某一特徵的一群人。因此，隊列研究對象大多是具有特定生活經歷的人群及其中的個人，通過某一特定疾病的人群、在一定時間內，根據相關性來確定被觀察者的患病風險。http://doctor.get.com.tw/m/Journal/detail.aspx?no=404359
