問題詳情

There are many different numeral systems in different cultures, including in China. Today, speakers of Chinese use three numeral systems: Arabic numerals and two ancient Chinese numerical systems.
The first system of the ancient Chinese numerical systems is called Huama system. It is the only representative of the rod numeral system still in use. This system has been popular only in Chinese markets, such as those in Hong Kong before the 1990s. The second is the written numerical system, which has two forms and tends to be used in written texts. But most Chinese now use the Arabic system for the sake of convenience.
There are two sets of characters for Chinese numerals: one for everyday writing and the other for use in financial contexts known as dàxiě(大寫). The latter arose because the characters used for everyday writing numerals are simple. A forger could easily change the everyday characters三十(30)to五千(5000)by adding just a few strokes. That is not possible when we use the dàxiě characters叁拾(30)and伍仟(5000).
