Hi Annie,

I know that you are very angry with Carly, but I think you should stop it now.

You think she really wanted the teacher toknow that you weren’t really sick yesterday, and that you went home just tostudy for your math test next week. But let me tell you this: this is not true.Carly is just not good at lying. If you don’t want Carly to tell anyone yoursecrets, you shouldn’t tell her the secrets at all.

Honestly, Carly really didn’t know what tosay when the teacher asked her where you were. When she finally told theteacher, “I think she felt sick and went home,” her face was all red. Theteacher, of course, knew Carly wasn’t telling the truth. So she asked Carly,“Is that really true?” Then Carly just looked down and said nothing. That’s howthe teacher knew you weren’t sick yesterday. So, the truth is: Carly did herbest as your friend.

I think you should forgive Carly and stopacting like a baby. Before you left school, you should have let the teacherknow first. It is just not right to ask a friend to lie for you. I think youshould tell Carly you are sorry—for asking her to do something so wrong.

Just think about this: do you really wantto lose a friend because of something so stupid?

Love,

Rachel
